tell sb sth. 告诉某人某事

tell sb of/about sth. 向某人讲述某事/有关...的情况

例句：

Tell me your name, please! 请告诉我你的名字！

I told him my name. 我把名字告诉了他。

Tell me what happened. 告诉我发生了什么事。

Tell me about your family. 请给我讲一讲你的家庭情况。

（这句就不能说成：Tell me your family.）

更多用法:

1、tell apart：区分,分清,区别,辨别

tell apart 做"区分,分清,区别,辨别"的意思的时候，固定用法为: tell sb./sth. apart，后面不能接事或者物。

The twin sister is so much alike that their parent can hardly tell them apart. 这对孪生姐妹长得太像了，他们的父母都几乎不能分清她们。

如果tell apart后面要接事或者物，可以用tell sb./sth. apart from sb./sth.
